Leadership Rooted in Principle
Citizen-led. Mission-Driven.
Officers & board members leading Tennessee’s no-compromise movement.
The Tennessee Firearms Association is governed by Tennesseans — not politicians or outside interests. Our officers and directors serve voluntarily, united by a shared belief in the Constitution and the responsibility of citizens to defend it. From legislative strategy to member outreach, these leaders ensure TFA remains focused, transparent, and true to its founding mission.

Executive Director & Chief Counsel – John I. Harris III
John I. Harris III is a constitutional attorney, published legal author, and one of Tennessee’s most consistent voices defending the Second Amendment. He has led the TFA since its early days, guiding the association through legislative battles, courtroom fights, and political resistance.
Under his leadership:
- TFA helped push permitless carry into law
- Fought unconstitutional local gun ordinances
- Held lawmakers accountable regardless of party
“We don’t exist to negotiate your rights. We exist to defend them.”
Member-Driven. Mission-Focused.
Our leadership answers to the only people who matter: our members. Every lawsuit, every bill we track, every alert we send — it’s backed by Tennesseans who refuse to let their rights be watered down. This isn’t a club. It’s a movement. And it’s led by people who live the fight every day.

What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.
