Protect our rights – take action now to stop any appeal

For over two decades the Tennessee Firearms Association has worked tirelessly in the state Legislature to repeal laws that violated Tennesseans’ constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. It’s not every day that we receive a Second Amendment victory, but thanks to the work of the Tennessee Firearms Association and Gun Owners of America, we can celebrate that a Tennessee court recently struck down two unconstitutional laws!

Yet, we must NOT be complacent.

For decades Tennessee’s “intent to go armed” law allowed police to stop, detain, question, and even arrest you just for carrying a firearm—no other crime needed because merely carrying the firearm with the intent to be armed was the crime. Further, this statute applied even on your own property and in your home. The burden was on YOU to prove your innocence in court.

But, the court has ruled now that this law is unconstitutional, along with Tennessee’s ban on carrying firearms in parks, greenways, and public recreation areas. But the fight is not over!

Now is the time to protect this victory. Politicians in Nashville have refused to repeal these unconstitutional laws for years. They wouldn’t listen before and now they need to hear us loud and clear. No more assaults on our Second Amendment and our constitutionally protected  rights. Yet, at least one state Republican Legislator has called on the state to appeal this decision.

The defendants in this case are Governor Bill Lee and Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, along with some other state agency commissioners and a local district attorney. They have 30 days from August 23 to appeal this decision. Let’s take action now to send a loud and clear message demanding that these officials respect this constitutional ruling and NOT APPEAL.  Furthermore, we  must apply pressure on the Legislators to repeal (not replace) these laws altogether.

Here’s how you can help protect this win:
